Jeff is a specialist in commercial property and construction law and brings more than 20 years of experience acting for some of New Zealand’s largest organisations. Prior to starting Nolen Walters, where he heads the property and construction practice area, Jeff was a partner of a boutique corporate and commercial law firm, having previously spent more than a decade at two of New Zealand's largest law firms.
He advises on all property matters, including development, property acquisition, property disposal, property finance, commercial leasing, hotel leasing, management and brand franchising, construction and construction litigation, public works and mortgagee enforcement. Jeff has acted and acts for large property developers, international hoteliers, finance companies, hospitals, energy companies, network utility operators, and national corporates.
Jeff’s approach to law is grounded in his experience running businesses. He provides prompt and specialised advice, practical risk analyses and commercially sensible solutions.
He is a well-connected member of the property community with strong working relationships with valuers, architects, development consultants, engineers, project managers and agents.
Regarded as an industry leader, Jeff has presented seminars on topics such as Residential Development in Auckland, the Building Act 2004, the Property Law Act 2007, the NEC form of Construction Contract and ‘Limited Liability Partnerships and Property Development’. Jeff has also been published in the NZ Herald and NBR with respect to Earthquakes and Leasing, Affordable Housing and Urban Development Authorities.
