Margaret specialises in dispute resolution, appearing regularly in the courts of New Zealand. Margaret’s litigation practice is primarily in family, civil and commercial disputes. Margaret’s family practice includes advising on dissolution of marriage, relationship property planning, agreements and division, trusts and estate management and dispute resolution, as well as child issues (including paternity, guardianship and custody) and domestic violence. Margaret’s civil practice includes a wide range of instructions, ranging from individuals to corporate entities, as well as acting on judicial reviews against government organisations and corporate set up and structuring advice. Margaret was a part-time lecturer at the University of Auckland teaching Company Law, and a part-time lecturer at Unitec University of Technology teaching Law of Business Obligations.
Margaret is also committed to assisting clients resolving matters via alternative dispute resolution methods, primarily via arbitration and mediation. Margaret is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and a New Zealand ambassador for CIArb’s Young Members’ Group, as well as a fellow of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ). Margaret is also an accredited mediator by the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL). At the same time, Margaret is an admitted solicitor of Hong Kong, specialising in family disputes.
Margaret was originally born in Beijing China and speaks and reads fluent Mandarin and conversational Cantonese. Given her ties to China and presence in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and New Zealand, Margaret is committed to serving clients in cross-border issues and disputes.
